Dr. Mukerji

Botox

Botox can be used cosmetically to improve wrinkles. It is a simple, nonsurgical procedure that can be done in the clinic and usually takes 10 minutes. It can be injected in your frown line between the brows, in your forehead or in your crow’s feet. During treatment, very low doses of Botox Cosmetic are injected via a tiny needle directly into the muscles. Discomfort during the injection is minimal You may have minimal redness at the injection points but this will disappear shortly after your injection. You may return to work the same day. You can expect to see your results within 5 days after your injection. Botox Cosmetic is not a permanent result. Injections will need to be done every 4-6 months to maintain your results. Botox Cosmetic is not considered medically necessary and is not covered by your insurance.

Botox is also FDA approved for severe underarm sweating (hyperhydrosis) when topical agents don’t work. Botox temporarily blocks the nerves and the chemical signals that stimulate the sweat glands causing the excessive sweating to stop. This procedure is done in the clinic and usually takes thirty minutes. You may return to work the same day. The botox is injected multiple times into your underarms through a very fine needle. Discomfort is minimal. You should notice a significant reduction in your underarm sweating within the first 4 weeks. This is not a permanent result. Injections will need to be done every 6 months to control your symptoms. Botox has also been used to control excessive sweating in the palms and feet as well.

Your insurance may cover botox injections for hyperhydrosis of your underarms. Insurance companies require that conservative measures at controlling your excessive sweating be attempted prior to botox treatment. We will assist you in determining if your insurance plan provides coverage for this treatment.

Injectables

Injectables add volume to smooth away facial wrinkles and folds. Juvéderm XC is the injectable of choice for patients of Dakota Plastic Surgery.

Juvéderm XC replaces hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally hydrating substance found in young, healthy looking skin. Juvéderm HC is the only FDA approved HA filler to last up to one year. It is formulated with lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to provide a more comfortable experience during treatment. With a quick, in-office procedure and minimal downtime, results can start to be seen right away with final results within 3-5 days.

Injectables Consultation

Plan to spend 15-20 minutes at your initial consultation with Dr. Mukerji. During this consultation, you will discuss your goals, your plastic surgery options and go over the risks and benefits involved with an injectable. Your decision to have an injectable is a highly personal one that not everyone will understand. The important thing is how you feel about it.

Prior to your consultation, make a list of questions. Many things will be covered during your consultation and it is easy to forget all the questions you had. Be sure to let us know if you smoke, the medications you take including vitamins, and any other health problems. Be aware that smoking causes the blood vessels to constrict which reduces blood flow, and the oxygen it carries, to the surgical area. When your blood supply is reduced, tissues heal more slowly and there is an increased risk of complications.

Blue Peel is a program of gradual correction designed to provide maximal improvement with minimal risks. It is ideal for exfoliation, skin tightening, and mild to moderate leveling action. It is not intended to replace the effects obtainable with a deeper peel or CO2 laser resurfacing. Two or three Blue Peels may be required for maximum benefit.
